97 days. Believe it or not, that's how far we are into this year already.
97 days of shedding old thoughts and embracing the new ones gifted to me through deep conversations with my family, friends, and mentors.
97 days marked by laughter with loved ones, the grief of numerous losses, and the quiet wisdom of introspective moments.
These experiences whispered a truth to me that none of us can dispute with:
Every day is your last day. No day is guaranteed to you, so cherish every moment dearly and love with reckless abandon. Do what you enjoy at least once a day and spend time with the people who matter. For no day, no tomorrow is ever promised.
Read that again, y’all.
97 days in, and the year feels like a whirlwind. Are you caught up in the apathy of the world's news, or is the guilt of neglected joys gnawing at your heart? Maybe by the luck of the draw, you’re the one with the constant smile on your face, reminiscing on all the adventures you've had so far.
Or you’re like myself, fluttering between all of those emotions, depending on the day.
No matter where you fall on this spectrum, take a moment to acknowledge how these 97 days have shaped you. Is it time for you to change an aspect of your life, in order to feel more fulfilled? More at ease? More joy?
Imagine waking up on a Tuesday, but it doesn't feel like one. The aroma of sizzling chocolate chips fills the air as fluffy banana pancakes dance across the frying pan. Your favourite playlist is on and you’re happily singing aloud, giving your best kitchen performance. These days, the Internet calls it romanticizing your life. Transforming ordinary moments into simple, yet memorable experiences for us to cherish.
And as far as I’m concerned, it’s much more than an Internet trend. It’s a practice.
However, the daily grind can be quite exhausting. Between long commuting hours, a never-ending list of errands and all the other woes of adulting, the grind devours our days, leaving them a blur of uninspiring routines. Where's the romance? Where's the magic? Where’s the enjoyment?
We all deserve more than these lacklustre, monotonous vibes.
Every day is your last day. No day is guaranteed to you, so cherish every moment dearly and love with reckless abandon. Do what you enjoy at least once a day and spend time with the people who matter. For no day, no tomorrow is ever promised.
Sprinkling more romance and ease throughout your day might feel like another task to add to your never-ending list, but what if those mundane moments, the ones we power through on autopilot, held the key to more contentment?
What if you transformed your morning commute into a mini mindfulness practice?
Or turned that evening dishwashing into a moment of connection with loved ones by giving your sibling a quick call?
Small sprinkles of joy can add up to a life that feels richer and more fulfilling.
So, with 97 days behind us, what kind of changes will you be making so that the rest of your year feels more romantic? More at ease? More joyful?
If you feel inclined to, share what you’ll be doing in the comments. We can inspire and be inspired by each other.
With love,
Kelisha (she/her)
